Marketing

Overview

Marketing Affirm financing helps merchants improve conversion and average order value. Educating customers about Affirm and adding monthly payment messaging throughout the conversion funnel will positively affect customers' purchase intent, and naturally encourages upsells and bundling.

Before you start

  • Ensure you messaging is compliant or your merchant account can be disabled. Review our Compliance page for full details.
  • Do not publish Affirm financing-related marketing materials without sending them to merchanthelp@affirm.com for review. This applies to copy on your website, email messages, and any other digital or physical marketing materials.
  • Do not mention monthly payment amounts without providing the APR, total amount, and term length that the payment amount is based on.

Marketing Affirm

The conversion funnel describes the customer journey all the way from discovery to purchase, and Affirm can be implemented throughout that funnel to improve conversion.

  1. On-site marketing. Affirm should be displayed in-context wherever a price is displayed, as well as globally across the site to advertise your partnership with Affirm.
  2. Email marketing. You can mitigate customers' price sensitivity by describing things in terms of monthly prices. Promoting the availability of Affirm, especially with 0% financing, can drive increased site traffic.

     

On-site Marketing

We recommend adding Affirm on-site marketing components to the following areas of your site, to maximize conversion lift:

  • Monthly Payment Messaging appears below the product price

  • Monthly Payment Messaging appears below the cart total
  • Affirm can appear as a button that will send the customer to your checkout flow with Affirm pre-selected as the payment method

  • Selecting Affirm expands payment method description, which includes Monthly Payment Messaging
Education/landing page
  • A good general-purpose page that explains the relationship between the merchant and Affirm, and an overview of the Affirm product
  • You can link to this page on your site for any mentions of Affirm, or you can land customers on this page for  re-targeting or promotional campaign
Home page
  • Affirm banners or mentions that are integrated with the Affirm site modals, or link to your education page

Affirm Marketing Assets

There are Affirm logos, buttons, and banners  available in a variety of sizes.  Additional logos are located at the bottom of our press page: https://www.affirm.com/press/

Instructions
  1. Download or reference the relevant Affirm logos, buttons, and banners.
  2. Include Affirm logos anywhere Affirm is mentioned, such as the payment method selection in your checkout flow.
  3. Include an Affirm button on your cart page to provide a shortcut to checkout where Affirm is pre-selected as the payment method

Note: Do not alter these logos or combine with other custom content without from Affirm. To gain approval, email merchanthelp@affirm.com.

Checkout Flow

The checkout flow will include Affirm as a selectable payment method, but it's also another opportunity to educate the customer on the Affirm value prop.

An education or landing page can help increase customer awareness of the Affirm payment method, as well as consumer confidence, by explaining Affirm in the context of store/business.

Instructions
  1. Use standard Affirm copy as your starting point
  2. Submit your page/copy to our Merchant Success team for approval
  3. Link to your landing page where Affirm is mentioned on your site
  4. Link to your landing page for campaigns/promotions around Affirm

Affirm promotional banners help you educate your customers on Affirm financing and drive improved conversions. You have several options for format and placement. If you implement banners along with our site modals, clicking on the banner will display a modal with information about Affirm.

Email Marketing

Newsletters

To ensure you have a successful launch, please send a newsletter alerting your customers of this new option. Many of our most successful partners continue to send emails every few weeks re-introducing the partnership. You can also keep static banners at the bottom of your emails to highlight our partnership. 

Instructions

  1. Customize with your branding.
    • Add Logo and Hero Image
    • Review Messaging and Disclosure for consistency with your offering.
  2. Send drafts of your newsletters to merchanthelp@affirm.com for compliance review. 
    Note: Non-compliant materials could result in the temporary disablement of our partnership. Read more about compliance here.
  3. Receive compliance approval from Affirm (please allow up to 2-week for Affirm to review).

Abandon cart

Abandoned cart messaging is an effective way to reach out to customers who have started a purchase but not finished it, often times due to price sensitivity. 

Instructions

  1. You can include simple Affirm messaging or calculate the monthly payment based on the abandoned cart total. 
  2. Include legal disclosure for the monthly payment calculation in the footer
  3. Send drafts of your newsletters to merchanthelp@affirm.com for compliance review.
